Burundi, a small but exceptional coffee-growing country in East Africa, is home to some of the world’s most unique and vibrant coffees. Burundi Kayanza coffee hails from the Kayanza region, nestled in the northern part of the country. This area is known for its steep, terraced hillsides that rise up to 2,000 meters above sea level, providing the perfect conditions for growing high-quality Arabica coffee. With its rich volcanic soil, abundant rainfall, and cool temperatures, Kayanza is renowned for producing coffees that are bright, complex, and full of character.
The journey of Burundi Kayanza begins with careful handpicking of the cherries, ensuring only the ripest and most vibrant beans are selected. The cherries undergo a wet processing method, which enhances the coffee’s natural brightness and clarity. Once processed, the beans are carefully dried in the sun, allowing their inherent fruity and floral notes to shine through.
This coffee is known for its lively, bright acidity, complemented by a unique profile of vibrant citrus and floral flavors. The body is silky and smooth, and the cup finishes clean with a delightful aftertaste. Burundi Kayanza is perfect for those who enjoy a coffee that is both complex and refreshing, with a taste that reflects the rich, flavorful traditions of East African coffee.
