Indian Parchment Kaapi Royale is an exemption to our typical policy of only carrying Arabica beans - this is a Robusta!
Robusta coffee beans are typically used in an espresso blend, as they typically retain more flavors when mixed with dairy (eg. lattes, cappuccinos), and tend to have a more pronounced crema.
This Kaapi Royale has a very pronounced woodsy aroma, with a noticeable woodsy flavor to accompany it, and a very unique slightly rubbery aftertaste. Despite these pronounced flavors, it is overall mellow, smooth, and full bodied.
Robusta coffees are known for producing better crema than Arabica coffees in an espresso machine. They also contain roughly twice the caffeine as Arabica coffee beans.
The Kaapi Royale beans are sorted for a 17-screen with no peaberries, broken beans or foreign matter allowed. It comes from the Mysore, Coorg, Malabar, Wayanad, Shevaroys, Pulneys and Bababudan regions.
Price is for 1 lb (16 oz/454 grams) of whole bean coffee. Ground coffee goes stale quickly so we don’t bother offering it. Our coffee is carefully roasted and bagged to order. Please allow time for custom roasting.
